I did not get out for record store day yesterday, nor did Jay Fields get me his Taylor Swift album so I had to go back to my old stuff.

If you know me at all, you know I am a huge Beatles fan. It should be no surprise then that I also have a love for DC5. Part of that initial British invasion, they were the first act to follow the Beatles to "the Ed Sullivan Show".

This greatest hits is certainly full of songs that people will know, even if they aren't as familiar with the band itself. They had some older stuff and have a sound that carries over a little more of that late 50s and early sixties sound on sings like "over and over"(1958) and "I like it like that"(1961)

You also get a little more growth and rock and roll into some of the later stuff.  Definitely fit very well into that "Beatles" British invasion sound such as on songs like "Catch Us If You Can"(1965) and "Because"(1964)

Search this one out.

"Looks like we made it" to another Sunday Spin.

Another Sunday afternoon filled with working on the yard followed by a nice laid back listen. Barry's smooth voice with a beer in hand, kicked back really hit the spot.

I was supposed to listen to a Taylor Swift album today, but Jay Fields never brought it to me. I guess I'll just have to push that to next week.

Made a trip to the home of the King this week and picked up a copy of his live performance from the 68 comeback special.

What an incredible place to visit. If you have not made the trip and you are anywhere close to Graceland, it is absolutely worth the time to go. To be someplace where so much of rocks history has been rooted(Memphis), it was impossible to walk out without something.

I wasn't around for the comeback, but I can only imagine how incredible it must have been to witness. This album certainly makes me wonder even more as how can you go wrong with the king.

How can you go wrong with the smooth vocal of Nat King Cole. In his greatest hits, they are all that. Great hits.

I used to put this record on when our offices were in the Stutz building in downtown Indy. It was an artist space in an old car factory that had hardly been touched. Other than adding some walls. It would echo off the concrete walls, floors, and the old windows and give it an incredible feel. The player was in a different room from my desk and it almost sounded like I was in the alley behind an old music hall with his smooth voice coming out through the back door.

It doesn't have quite that same feel in my home office, but it still sounds incredible.

Go get it, sit, and spin it!
